Warm up in Amersfoort

Board game about heat transition

How do you go about sustainability? How do you find your way through all the information, and what choices can you make? Together with the Municipality of Amersfoort, we developed a board game about making the city more sustainable. A serious game about sustainability, strategy, and cooperation in one’s own city.

Learning about heat transition

Warm-up in Amersfoort is both informative and fun to play. In the game you learn about different interests and possibilities. Your own, and those of other players. Perhaps you all want to become more sustainable, but you have different ideas about how best to go about it. The game offers an opportunity to have a good conversation about this, and to learn how to make a good choice for your neighborhood and city. Will you succeed in reaching the sustainability goals?

Here's how it works

In the game you can assume different roles. Each player lives in a different neighborhood of Amersfoort and has the task of making this neighborhood sustainable. Beware! There is more to the game than meets the eye. The game also involves different scenarios and seasons, and that affects your choices. Have you been able to invest in wall insulation in time before winter sets in, or are you considering switching to the heat grid? Becoming more sustainable is not that simple, so think carefully about your choices.

Custom made

In developing the game, we looked closely at the interests of the residents of Amersfoort. What needs come into play, and how do we make the game as fun and accessible as possible?

The result: a beautiful game board representing the city of Amersfoort. Take a good look and see if you recognize any elements, maybe you’ve even walked by it before….

Learn to work together with a board game

Sustainability is complex, which is why it is important to learn what is involved. Warm up in Amersfoort gets you thinking about making your city more sustainable in various ways, such as energy use and home insulation. The goal is clear, but how do you achieve it? Not everyone has the same background and resources, so it is important to think about this as well. How can you encourage others, and what is actually the consequence of you choosing another neighborhood?

Together you will walk warmly for Amersfoort!
