Wake-up Games

Learn about generating energy

Did you know that the Afsluitdijk plays an important role in the Dutch energy system? At the Afsluitdijk Wadden Center, you can play three games about energy and sustainability. So you can learn about different types of energy generation, distribution and use: discover the WakeUP Games!

We all use energy, all day long. Where does your energy actually come from and how is it distributed? There is still a lot to do in terms of energy transition, and games are a great way to learn more about how this complex system works. After all, those who have fun learn better.

With the WakeUP Games, children and families learn about the different types of energy we generate in the Netherlands: solar, wind, hydro and blue energy. But, what exactly happens when the sun doesn’t shine, or the wind doesn’t blow? These games teach children and adults to think about the energy process in a playful way.
